Pottering with Purpose is a small home based nursery in Darwin, Northern Territory Australia. Our nursery is not open to the public, so please contact us for any enquiries or to place an order.
We have a wide variety of plants in our private collection and propagate using various techniques in water, soil and other substrates to create our small nursery. We also like to expand our collection by swapping plants and supporting other local plant enthusiasts.
Tropical shade plants are our specialty with a particular interest in climbing and vining plants. Ideally suited to indoor and patio spaces, shade plants can improve the look of your home or office while boosting your health and well-being at the same time.
We offer a range of Gifts & Services including delivery of our unique Plant Drop trays (locally only at this stage), Plant Health Consultations and Plant Hire. Subscribe to The Plant Paper to keep up to date with our latest offerings.
I’ve been pottering since 1982. At 40 year of age, I began to question the daily grind and want something more. I'm still working but I have embarked on this journey to turn my hobby into that something more.
My name is Christine McCallum. Born in Darwin, Northern Territory Australia, I have lived here for 30 of my years and call this tropical land and lifestyle my home. I am married and have three children.
I grew up in this tropical paradise surrounded by palm trees and bush but also spent 10 years living in a more temperate climate in South East Queensland. I have fond memories being surrounded by beautiful gardens, flowers and pot plants when I lived with my Mum, an award winning open gardener in Toowoomba, the Garden City and host of the annual Carnival of Flowers.
My plant interests died down while my children were young but when a good friend bought me a Monstera deliciosa for my birthday in 2018, the flame reignited and my plant collection began to grow once more.
Building on my experience with plants, I am currently studying Horticulture at Charles Darwin University.
