There are a number of ways that you can recycle and minimise waste in your home and garden. From composting, reusing your garden stakes and soils to recycling old plastic nursery pots. Any contribution to recycling whether big or small helps the environment, and that's got to be a good thing.
The best form of recycle is first reuse.
We accept donations of old plastic nursery pots for the primary purpose of reuse. All pots donated are cleaned and sun sterilised before being reused in our small nursery for propagation and planting. This is just one way that we can do our bit for the circular economy and also means you reap the rewards when we can keep our prices that bit lower.
Contact Us if you have pots sitting around your yard. We can give you our address for drop off or we may even be able to pick them up from you. If you have visited us before, please just drop them off at any time.
We wont reuse a broken plastic pot and sometimes a pot shape doesn't meet our needs, so we collect them for closed-loop recycling.
We are proud to be collecting ALL plastic garden waste of any colour marked with the PP5 logo as shown below. Just check the bottom or side of a product for the PP5 stamp, sometimes it can be small. Your normal recycling bin collection is not very effective for recycling nursery pots as the black coloured pots are often overlooked by the automated sorting processes.
Plant retailer, Verdant Dwellings, receives our PP5 plastics and adds them to their Garden City Plastics Recycling Cage for recycling into new nursery pots. There are currently no collection points in the Northern Territory so we send our pots off when we have sufficient quantity.
Contact Us if you have pots you no longer need and we can supply an address for you to drop off or we may even be able to pick them up from you. If you have visited us before, please just drop them off at any time.
We ONLY accept nursery plastics marked PP5.
